\\\'Y\\\' for youth, \\\'Y\\\' for Yamin

Mohammad Ali Anik | Thursday, 5 March 2015

Perhaps Bangladesh has the most resilient and pliant number of people who never surrender to odds. This nation also has talented and capable faction of people who never gives up no matter how colossal the size of obstructions is. Scientific officer of BARI (Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute), Md Faruq Bin Hossain Yamin is a dazzling example of such category. Yamin came into the public interest after inventing a low cost and most effective formalin detection kit. Then he again drew everyone's attention with another of his outstanding invention, a device that can absorb and separate oil from water. This remarkable mechanism was invented during the disastrous oil spill at the Sundarbans. His last innovation was the protective method against crude bomb attack.
Wonder boy Yamin was born in Pirojpur district. Yamin's father was a government officer and thus they had to travel around the country. Yamin says, "The entire Bangladesh is my home." He completed his SSC from Potuakhali Govt. Jubilee School and HSC from Potuakhali Govt. College. Yamin loves his alma mater, Sher-E-Bangla Agricultural University from where he has completed his honours and masters and specialized in Horticulture.
From early childhood Yamin wanted to build something, do something that directly benefits his country and countrymen. He suggests the youth, "At least do one thing extraordinary and good for your country. If everyone comes forward for the country then Bangladesh will have 160 million initiatives that will secure a rock solid future for this country." Yamin wishes to build a high tech research facility someday, a facility where researchers and learners from every discipline can come and learn. Yamin cheers hard-work and without hard-work and dedication, one cannot truly accomplish and reach to the summit according to him. He foresees a better, bright and brilliant Bangladesh.
As an icon of inspiration, Yamin advocates the youth to be patriotic and devoted to the country. He discourages brain drain. Yamin wishes all the brains who had moved abroad to return to the motherland and add to her development. Time has come for Bangladesh to stretch her wings and fly. Yamin had to deal with massive difficulties and had to face many challenges. Hence on facing challenges he says, "You cannot dodge challenges to become successful. Rather you should face them and learn to thrash them from every angle. You are sure to find the light at the end of the tunnel."
