Yeafesh for utilising IT to build Digital Bangladesh

KHULNA, Nov 27 (BSS): State Minister for Science and ICT Architect Yeafesh Osman stressed the need for utilising information technology (IT) to build Digital Bangladesh by 2021.
"We want to bring the country under digital network so that people can get benefit from it," he told the inaugural function of three-day Digital Innovation Fair-2010 at Khulna Public Hall Saturday as chief guest.
UNDP-funded Access to Information (A2I) Progra-mme of Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and Khulna Divisional Commissioner's office jointly organised the fair aimed at reaching IT services to the doorsteps of the common people.
Khulna city Mayor Talukdar Abdul Khaleq, National Project Director of A2I Programme Md Nazrul Islam Khan addressed the function as special guests with Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Mashiur Rahman in the chair.
Yeafesh said the government is working sincerely to reach technological facilities to rural people for bringing about a significant change in their lifestyle. The people could save their time and money through utilizing IT, he added.
Nazrul Islam said the fair would help the people on how to get services from IT. Such digital fair will also help build Digital Bangladesh by 2021, he added.
He urged all to extend their cooperation to the government for building a poverty-free Digital Bangladesh as dreamt by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He said IT is one of the important tools to reach various services to the doorsteps of the common people and bring dynamism and transparency in civil administration.
The fair will remain open for all from 10am to 8pm every day.
A2I Programme of PMO and Khulna Divisional Commissioner's office will organise two separate seminars where IT experts Mostafa Jabbar and Munir Hasan will present two keynote papers.
