Yet another building in city tilts

Sunday, 6 June 2010

FE Report
A four-storey building leaned to one side at East Nakhalpara in the capital Saturday, just days after a building collapse killed 25 in the city's Begunbari.
Officials of Fire Service and Civil Defence at Tejgaon said the building located at 8-B near Shamabay Bazar of East Nakhalpara tilted at about 4:00pm.
On information, fire fighters and police rushed to the spot and asked the residents to evacuate the building immediately.
No causalities were reported in the incident.
The owner of the building has fled the scene, said a police officer adding that the building has been built without proper approval from the authorities.
The incident comes less than a week after a five-storied concrete building toppled onto tin-shed shanties in Begunbari, where a number of low-paid garment workers and labours lived.
On Friday, a seven-story building also tilted in Begunbari.
