Young housewife \\\'killed\\\' for dowry

A young housewife was killed allegedly by her husband for dowry and her body was hanged from the ceiling of their residence in Sirajganj at sometimes between Thursday night and Friday morning. The dead is Sheuly Rani Ghosh, 21, wife of Ratan Chandra Ghosh, a resident of Porjana Ghoshpara village in Shahjadpur Upazila of Sirajganj. Police quoting locals, said Sheuly, daughter of Keshtapada Ghosh, a resident of Banwari Nagar in Faridpur Upazila of Pabna district, was married off with Ratan two years ago. Ratan often used to engage in quarrel with his wife over dowry and torture her since the marriage. On Friday afternoon, local people spotted Sheuly’s body hanging with the ceiling of her bedroom and informed police, recovered the body, bearing an injury mark, and sent it to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy. Victim’s father Keshtapada Ghosh alleged Ratan and his family members had been torturing Sheuly for dowry and killed her over the issue. They later kept the body hanging with the ceiling of her room to pass the murder as suicide, they claimed. A case was filed in this connection, according to a news agency.
