Young Tigers beat PNG by 165 runs in practice match

Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team, now in UAE to take part in the ICC Under-19 World Cup, had good practice as they crushed Papua New Guinea (PNG) by 165 runs in the first warm-up match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium Monday, reports UNB.
Batting first after winning the toss, Bangladesh Under-19 team scored 281 runs for 9 wickets in stipulated 50 overs with middle order Yasin Ali contributing 64 runs off 67 balls that featured two fours and two sixes.
Opener Shadman Islam scored 49 runs off 83 balls with four fours while two down Mosaddek Hossain made 36-ball 32 runs with a boundary and Joyraz Sheikh made 29 runs off 33 balls with five fours.
Besides, Zakir Hossain (18), Nazmul Hossain Shanta (17), captain Mehedy Hasan (16) and Abu Haider (15) were the other Bangladeshi batsmen who reached double figures.
R Hekure grabbed three wickets for 50 runs while SC Gebai, KV Morea and A Nao took two wickets each for 45, 47 and 56 runs respectively.
In reply, PNG were dismissed for 116 runs in 40.3 overs with G Toka making 35, KV Morea not out 21 and TT Willie 11 runs. Another 20 runs of the innings came from extras.
Mustafizur Rahman, Mehedy Hasan and Rahatul Ferdous took two wickets each for 10, 16 and 32 runs respectively.
The Young Tigers will meet England Under-19 team in their 2nd and last preparatory match on Wednesday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi
Bangladesh, placed in Group B of the ICC Under-19 World Cup along with Afghanistan, Australia and Namibia, will start their World Cup campaign taking on Afghanistan on Feb 15 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium (Nursery-2) in Abu Dhabi.
In the remaining two group matches, the Young Tigers will play Namibia on Feb 17 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium (Nursery-1) in Abu Dhabi and meet Australia on Feb 19 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
