\\\'Youth forces need leadership traits for national uplift\\\'

RAJSHAHI, Sept 25 (BSS): Speakers said at a participatory discussion the youth forces should be enriched with leadership characteristics so that they can lead the future nation competently.
They viewed time has come to generate more and more youths and community leaders in the grassroots for making them time-fitting social actor to free the society from various crimes and malpractices like drug-addiction.
Enriching community leadership along with their capacity building is the precondition to generate job opportunities, social development and free the society from gender discriminations and vicious cycle of poverty, they further said.
The observations came at a daylong district level advocacy meeting styled "Role of Youths and Community Leaders and Department of Youth Development (DYD) towards Implementing National Youth Policy" held in Rajshahi city yesterday.
Manob Kolyan Parishad (MKP) organized the meeting at its office in association with Leadership Development Programme and Counterpart International.
With Abdul Haque, President of Huzripara Youth Leaders Development Forum, in the chair, Deputy Director of DYD Matiur Rahman addressed the discussion as chief guest while Assistant Directors Javed Iqbal and Abul Kalam Azad and Youth Development Officers Sayed Ali Reja and Nila Yeasmin spoke as special guests.
During his concept paper presentation, Safiul Awal, Project Coordinator of MKP, gave an overview of the programme and its goals and implementation strategy.
He said initiative has been taken to engage the youths towards democratic activities through their active and effective participation for strengthening social development and more community participation.
