Youth gunned down

A young man was shot to death by unknown miscreants at Sadar Upazila in Lakshmipur district on Friday. The dead is Ripon Hossain, son of Helal Uddin of Baintala village. The victim’s father said Ripon had gone out of his house after getting a phone call around 1:00am and did not return home. Later, the people of Karaitala village found him lying in a pool of blood. Residents of Karaitala rushed to the spot after hearing a gun shot, police quoting locals said. They rescued Ripon and admitted him to Sadar Hospital from where he was referred to Noakhali General Hospital but he died on way. Mohammad Iqbal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station said the reason behind the killing could not be known immediately, according to UNB.
