Youth gunned down in city

A young man was gunned down by some miscreants in the city's Banani area Thursday morning. The deceased was identified as Nazmul Islam, 25, an employee of a recruiting agency, Dah Mashi Corporation Ltd. Witnesses said three miscreants came to the recruiting agency in a motorcycle, and demanded toll from the staff members at about 10am. At one stage, they fired indiscriminately, leaving Nazmul dead on the spot, and injuring Zahurul Islam, 26, a messenger of the agency. Zahurul was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. — UNB
