Members of the elite strike force Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) detained a youth from Tangail on charge of spreading so-called audiovisual message of al-Qaeda head Ayman al-Zawahari on the internet, reports UNB.
Director (media and legal wing) at the Rab headquarters Wing Commander Habibur Rahman confirmed UNB about it.
He, however, did not elaborate from where and when the youth was detained saying that details would be disclosed through a media briefing later.
Another source wishing not to be quoted said Rab members arrested a youth, Rasel-Bin-Sattar, 21, from Majhipara of Tangail early in the morning.
The audiovisual message, believed to be of al-Qaeda head Ayman al-Zawahari, called upon Bangladeshi Muslims to join jihad against the western countries. The unconfirmed message was published by the Jihadology.net.
Talking to reporters after ending Bangladesh Navy's annual exercise 'Exercise Sea Thunder 2014' at BNS Bangabandhu on the deep sea in Chittagong, Prime Minister's Security Adviser Maj Gen (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique on Monday claimed that they have already identified the location from where the video message was circulated, but declined to elaborate it for strategic reasons.
