Monday, 20 January 2014

A youth was killed as he ‘fell under’ the elevator of Dhaka University’s Sir PJ Hartog International Hall on Monday evening. The deceased was identified as Sohel Rana, 28, who hailed from Patuakhali. University sources said Sohel, a driver by profession, came to the dormitory to visit his uncle Babul Munshi, a third-class employee of the university who along with his family resides in the dormitory. As the youth was trapped under the dormitory’s elevator around 6 pm, he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. DU Proctor Prof Amzad Ali told UNB that they could not be confirmed about the reason behind the death, adding that a probe committee will be formed to investigate the incident, according to a news agency.
