Youth killed in post-poll violence in Khulna

KHULNA, Mar 30 (UNB): A young man was killed and three others were injured in post-poll violence between the supporters of two member candidates at Koira Union parishad in Koira Upazila Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as Aminul Islam Lovlu (22), son of Aftab Master of Gobra village in the upazila. Police and witnesses said supporters of the two member candidates locked into clash just after the announcement of the result at Gobra Ghatakhali govt primary school centre at about 9:45pm. At one stage police fired at least 10 rounds of bullet to bring the situation under control. Family members claimed that Aminul was killed in police gunshot. Koira Thana OC Enamul Haque denied the allegation saying that police fired 10 rounds of blank shots to bring the situation under control. But nobody was killed in the gunshot. Aminul died in the clash between the two groups, he added.
