FARIDPUR, Nov 3 (UNB): A case has been filed under section 57 of the ICT Act against a young man who was earlier arrested for posting a photo on his Facebook wall demeaning the Holy Kaaba, reports UNB.
The accused is Bishnu Kumar Malo, a resident of Malo Para under Krishnapur union of Sadarpur upazila.
Israt Munshi, a resident of the union, filed the case with Sadarpur Police Station on Friday, said Harun-or-Rashid, officer-in-charge of the police station.
Earlier, police arrested Bishnu on Thursday over the allegation and he was sent to jail on Friday.
Enraged by his Facebook post, local people vandalised Bishnu's house and business establishment at a local bazaar. Besides, section 144 had also been imposed from 3pm on Thursday.
However, the restriction was withdrawn at 6pm on Friday.
Additional Police Super (Bhanga Circle) Gazi Rabiul Islam said Bishnu claimed that he does not use the Facebook ID from where the disparaging post was made.
He, however, said the collected information has been sent to the head office of Criminal Investigation Department in Dhaka to ascertain whether Bishnu used to handle the Facebook account or someone else.
