Yunus to lead team to Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship in US

Entrepreneurs from more than 40 countries with sizable Muslim populations including Bangladesh would throng Washington to take part in the first ever Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship during April 26-27 next.
Around 250 delegates from across the world including three from Bangladesh to be led by professor Muhammad Yunus would attend the summit on US President Barack Obama's invitation.
The summit, which will be held at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center in Washington, will highlight the importance of entrepreneurship, job creation and community development.
The American Center in Dhaka arranged a webchat Tuesday in this regard with Bangladesh delegate Ifty Islam and a member of the policy planning staff in the office of the secretary at the US Department of State Greg Behrman.
Greg Behrman said the summit would highlight successful entrepreneurs from Muslim communities, identify ways to replicate the most successful entrepreneurship efforts and approaches and help build and strengthen economic and social climates conducive to entrepreneurship.
The summit emphasises the President's broader aims of supporting entrepreneurship, innovation and economic opportunity at home and abroad, said US state department.
The two-day summit will highlight the role of entrepreneurship in addressing common challenges while building partnerships that will lead to greater opportunity abroad and at home.
It would include moderated discussions on key issues and challenges for advancing entrepreneurship which include - innovation and technology, access to capital, catalysing youth entrepreneuship, promoting entrepreneurship and enabling business.
Results expected from the summit are new programs, partnerships, relationships and networks, which will encourage starting new businesses and social projects.
