Zakat and Fitra

Sunday, 30 August 2009

AS Islam discourages begging, 'Zakat' and 'Fitra' should be given in a manner that they do not create beggars. The money could be collected to organise projects for employment and train the needy in vocational and other skills so that they can stand on their own feet. According to the teaching of Islam, they should be made self-reliant and not perennially dependent.
