\\\'Zero tolerance against duty dodging doctors\\\'
Thursday, 4 September 2014
Health Minister Mohammad Nasim has said in the parliament that if any of the newly-appointed 6,089 doctors dodge their duties, they will be fired without giving any chance to defend themselves. ‘If any of the doctors evade their duties during the provisional period, they’ll be terminated without issuing any show-cause notice,’ he warned while delivering his statement under Section 300 of the Parliament’s Rules of Procedure during the 3rd session of the 10th Jatiya Sangsad on Wednesday. Nasim said the newly recruited doctors had been posted in their respective Upazilas for 2 years so that they can serve the rural people of their districts, Upazilas and villages. Of them, 342 doctor couples were posted in the same area. Pointing at MPs, the health minister said, ‘I’ve given you a list of doctors posted in your respective constituency. It’s your duty to monitor the doctors.’ He urged the MPs to hold monthly meeting to assess whether the doctors discharge their duties properly and inform him about problems, according to a news agency.
