Zia finishes 19th in Asian Chess

Bangladesh Grandmaster Ziaur Rahman finished 19th in the Open Section of the Asian Continental Chess Championships that ended at Sharjah of the UAE Friday, reports UNB.
Zia secured 5 points after the 9th round match. With performance in the meet, Zia saw his rating rose by 8.
In the 9th and final round match, Zia beat FM Al-Hadarani Hatim of Yemen.
Grandmaster Yu Yangyi of China emerged unbeaten champion securing 7 points in the Open section.
In all, 64 players, including 32 Grandmasters and 11 International Masters, from 21 countries took part in the Open Section of the meet.
In the Women Section, WFM Nazrana Khan Eva became 29th securing 3.5 points after the 9th round match. Eva's rating fell by 26.
In the last round match, Eva lost to Dahdal Lougain of Jordan.
Women Grandmaster Sukandar Irine Kharisma of Indonesia became champion bagging 7 points in the women section. A total of 32 players, including 9 Grandmasters, 4 International Masters and 10 Women International Masters, from 16 countries took part in the Women Section of the meet.
