Zillur Rahman's fifth death anniv observed

The fifth death anniversary of former President Zillur Rahman, a veteran politician, a language movement hero, an organiser of the Liberation War and one of the close associates of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was observed on Tuesday, reports BSS.
Wreaths were placed at Banani grave of the former President while milad mahfil and Quran Khwani were held, special munajats offered and discussions arranged across the country marking the day.
Awami League paid rich tributes to the former leader of the party by placing a wreath at his grave.
Awami League general secretary and Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, its organising secretary Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and office secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap were, among others, present on the occasion.
Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote organised a memorial meeting at Jatiya Press Club with Food Minister Qamrul Islam in the chair.
Speakers at the meeting recalled the contribution of Zillur Rahman to the country and his party with profound respect.
