Sunday, 28 October 2007

Awami League (AL) acting president Zillur Rahman Saturday urged the government to take action against Jamaat-Shibir and its patrons, who were responsible for the carnage on October 28 last year.
Recalling the incidents of October 28 in a statement, Zillur Rahman said AL led 14-party combine had organised blockade on that day marking the end of misrule of the four-party alliance, reports UNB.
The AL leader claimed that Jamaat-Shibir had launched a virulent attack on the activists of 14-party alliance and rained bullets on the demonstrators killing a cadre of Workers Party at Paltan.
The AL leader further claimed that Jamaat-Shibir was responsible for the murder of Monir Hossain of Jubo League in Dhaka, Hannan at Banchchha-rampur and three other AL activists in Noakhali.
He alleged that BNP-Jamaat had under a blueprint of election engineering appointed President Iajuddin Ahmed as chief adviser of the caretaker government, which was opposed by the people.
Zillur branded as false and fabricated the cases against AL President Sheikh Hasina and her followers.
He demanded withdrawal of the cases and immediate release of the AL chief.
