Zunaid for ICT based public services to combat corruption

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak Monday said introduction of ICT in public services will help combat corruption in the country, reports BSS.
"We are working to introduce ICT based public services for rooting out corruption," he told a prize giving ceremony at IDB Bhaban in the city on the occasion of winning an international award by a Bangladeshi young photographer.
Zunaid stressed the need for transforming Bangladesh into a knowledge- based economy.
"The country is still a labor oriented economy. But we should put emphasis on knowledge-based economy by making optimum utilisation of ICT," he added.
He said the government has envisioned its philosophy Vision 2021: Digital Bangladesh leading towards use of ICT to leverage economic growth and development to transform Bangladesh into a middle- income country by 2021.
"We all should work from our respective position by adopting knowledge on information technology (IT) to build 'Sonar Bangla' as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman," he added.
Chairman of Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization Abdullah H Kafi, among others, addressed the function.
Photographer Kazi Riyasat Alvi secured first position in the Explore to Inspire Photography Competition held last year. Canon Singapore and National Geographic Channel jointly organised the competition.
