‘15 sugar mills incur loss of Tk 5.28b last fiscal’

The 15 state-owned sugar mills incurred a total loss of some Tk 5.28 billion in the last fiscal year (2013-14), Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu informed Parliament on Thursday. The 15 sugar mills produced 128,268 metric tones of sugar, while five private sugar refinery factories imported 1,940,612 metric tons of raw sugar in the same fiscal, he said, replying to a starred question from Habibur Rahman (Bogra-5), according to a news agency.
