Acting President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Monwara Hakim Ali on Wednesday said the FBCCI and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) could work together in the area of policy reforms for the private sector. “There’re many areas where FBCCI and the IMF can work jointly,” the apex trade body leader said this while addressing a discussion with IMF Deputy Managing Director Naoyuki Shinohara at the Federation Bhaban. She said a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the FBCCI and IMF could be signed. Monwara said the private sector can work with the IMF in formulating trade and investment policy and helping SME sector to flourish. Shinohara said the IMF works directly with the Finance Ministry and laid emphasis on regular dialogue between the IMF and Bangladesh’s private sector, said a FBCCI media release, according to a news agency.
