‘New gas-based power plant gets going by Nov’

BHOLA, Apr 25 (BSS): Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said Friday the gas-based 225-megawat (mw) power plant at Borhanuddin will go into production by November this year.
"The gas-based plant will generate 150mw by November this year and the production will increase to 225mw in March next year," the minister said this while speaking at a function marking exponential commissioning of gas-based 24mw power station here.
The commerce minister said the 225mw power plant at Borhanuddin will go into full-fledge production by March 2015 and contribute to the national grid.
The power crisis in Bhola would ease, to a large extent, he added.
The present government has reduced power crisis and allocated Taka 320 million to prevent river erosion in Bhola, the minister said.
Work for river bank protection would start soon, he said the government of Netherlands will work permanently for river bank prevention in Bhola.
Power Secretary Manowarul Islam, Venger Energy Resources Limited Chairman Anisur Rahman Sinha attended the function as the special guests with Power Plant Technical Director ATM Nasdiruzzaman in the chair.
