‘Palli Janapad’ to get quick approval: Minister

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday said the government is going to approve ‘Palli Janapad’ project soon to provide rural people with civic amenities. Under the project, four-storey buildings will be constructed in rural areas, while flats will be allocated to rural people living in scattered places with a view to saving arable lands alongside providing the villagers with urban facilities. The pilot project is now being implemented in eight villages of the country, the minister said while addressing a national workshop, titled ‘The Concept of Land Use Planning for Upazilas in Bangladesh’, at the NEC auditorium of the Planning Ministry in the city. Physical Infrastructure Division of the Planning Commission and the Urban Development Directorate (UDD) jointly organised the workshop, according to a news agency.
