Speakers at a dialogue in Dhaka on Wednesday said political crisis, corruption and lack of good governance are the key barriers to elimination of poverty and inequalities from the country. Bangladesh Unnayan Parishad (BUP) in association with Global Call to Action Against Poverty (GCAP) organised the dialogue on ‘Action against poverty and inequality and Bangladesh’s perspective’ at Cirdap auditorium. Addressing the function as the chief guest, Chairman of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Dr Kazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad said the biggest problem that stood in the way to alleviate poverty is political crisis and violence. “If we can’t come out from the politics of confrontation, our development will be hampered and the poverty will not be eradicated,” he said.
