Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members allegedly picked up a pro-BNP UP chairman from Katgar area under Patenga Police Station in Chittagong early Wednesday. The victim was identified as Omar Faruk, chairman of Hazirpara union under Laxmipur Sadar upazila and organising secretary of BNP Sadar upazila (East) unit. Faruk’s wife Parveen Akhter said a group of 6-7 people posing as Rab members picked up her husband from a relative’s house in Katgar area around 4 am. He was later taken on a vehicle with sticker of Rab-7, she said, adding that her husband remained traceless since then. However, Rab-7 director Misbah Ahmed denied the allegation, saying they did not conduct any drive in Katgar in the last two day, according to a news agency.
