26 bodies recovered, 5-member probe body formed
Victims' families to initially get Tk 25,000 each from district admin

A total of 26 bodies were recovered until 10:00am on Thursday after a bus had plunged into the Padma River at the Daulatdia ferry terminal in Rajbari's Goalanda upazila on Wednesday afternoon.
Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of the Rajbari Deputy Commissioner's office Md Hafizur Rahman said the bodies of 21 victims had been handed over to their families.
The bodies of the driver and two others were kept at the Rajbari Sadar Hospital.
The fatal accident occurred at around 5:15pm on Wednesday when the Souhardo Paribahan bus lost control at Daulatdia ghat no 3 and plunged into the river.
Bus workers and counter officials said the bus carrying around 45 passengers had departed from Kumarkhali in Kushtia for the capital.
The Rajbari district administration formed a five-member high-level investigation committee.
Md Hafizur Rahman, additional district magistrate, was made the convener of the committee.
Other members include the additional superintendent of police (crime and OPS), the assistant general manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation's Daulatdia office, the deputy director of Rajbari Fire Service and Civil Defence, and the upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Gopalganj.
The committee was instructed to submit its report to the deputy commissioner within three working days.
The families of the deceased will receive an initial compensation of Tk 25,000 each from the district administration.
The bodies of the victims recovered so far were identified as Rehena Akter from Bhabanipur of Rajbari municipality and her son Ahnaf Tahmid Khan; Marzina Khatun from Mojampur village of Kushtia municipality; Rajib Biswas from Khagrabaria village of Kushtia Sadar Upazila; Zahura Anti and Kazi Saif from Sajjankanda of Rajbari municipality; Marzina Akter and her daughter Safia Akter Rinthi from Char Barkipara of Gopalganj; Israfil from Dhushundu village of Kushtia; Faiz Shahnoor from Bhabanipur village of Rajbari's Kalukhali upazila; Tajbid from Sajjankanda Mahalla of Rajbari municipality; Arman Khan from Baliakandi upazila of Rajbari; Nazmira from Belgachi village of Kalukhali upazila; Lima Akter from Ramchandrapur of Rajbari Sadar; Josna from Char Beninagar of Rajbari Sadar; Mukta Khanum from Noadha village of Gopalganj; Nashima from Mathurai village of Dinajpur; Ayesha Akter from Bagdhunia Palpara of Ashulia; Soha Akter from Rajbari municipality; Ayesha Siddika of Samsapur union of Kushtia; Arman from Khondokbaria village of Jhenaidah; Abdur Rahman from Mahendrapur village of Rajbari; Sabit Hasan from Agomarai village of Rajbari Sadar; and fruit trader Ujjal.
Two victims could not be identified.
