BSC approves 25pc cash dividend after record profit

CHATTOGRAM CORRESPONDENT | Tuesday, 23 December 2025

The board of directors of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) has approved a 25 per cent cash dividend for FY25 at its 48th annual general meeting (AGM), held in Chattogram on Monday.
Brigadier General (retd) Dr M Shakhawat Hossain, adviser to the Ministry of Shipping and chairman of the BSC board, presided over the AGM. Shipping Secretary Dr Nurunnahar Chowdhury, NDC, along with members of the board of directors and shareholders, were also present.
The state-run corporation reported its highest-ever net profit of Tk 3.06 billion for FY25, driven by strong operating income and controlled expenditure.
Commodore Mahmudul Malek, managing director of BSC, said the dividend payout was kept the same as the previous year due to the corporation’s plans to purchase ships using its own funds for the first time.
Under a contract with Hellenic Dry Bulk Ventures LLC, the first vessel, MV Banglar Pragati, has already been delivered and deployed commercially, while the second vessel, MV Banglar Nabajatra, is scheduled for delivery in January 2026.
BSC has also taken steps to procure two ready-made MR tankers through government financing, along with one ready-made bulk carrier using its own funds.
As of June 30, 2025, BSC’s total assets stood at Tk 35.83 billion, while external liabilities amounted to Tk 19.84 billion.
