Tofail Ahmed laid to rest in Bhola

The Veteran Awami League leader Tofail Ahmed has been laid to rest in his home district of Bhola.
The prominent student leader of the 1960s was buried around 4:15pm on Tuesday in Koralia village under South Dighaldi Union of Bhola Sadar, beside the graves of his parents and wife, reports bdnews24.com.
Earlier, thousands of people gathered at Bhola Government High School ground for his funeral prayers, held around 2pm.
Before the prayers, speeches were delivered by Bhola BNP Convenor and District Council Administrator Golam Nabi Alamgir and Tofail's son-in-law Touhiduzzaman Tuhin.
The prayers were led by Mufti Mojiruddin.
Following the funeral, the administration accorded the prominent Liberation War organiser a guard of honour.
A nine-time lawmaker, Tofail Ahmed, who witnessed many of the turning points in Bangladesh's political history, died at Square Hospital in Dhaka on Monday afternoon.
He was 83 and had been receiving treatment in the hospital's intensive care unit.
