UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has urged all parties in Bangladesh to "exercise restraint" over the death of Inquilab Moncho Convener Sharif Osman Hadi, reports bdnews24.com.
UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric relayed the call at a briefing in New York, according to a UN statement issued on Friday.
Dujarric said Guterres has called for an impartial investigation into Hadi's death, in line with international human rights standards.
"Refrain from violence, reduce tensions and exercise maximum restraint in order to preserve a peaceful electoral environment," he urged the people of Bangladesh.
