Baharul made new IGP
Sazzad Ali new DMP Commissioner

In a major reshuffle in police administration, the government has appointed former chief of Special Branch of Police Baharul Alam as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) while Sheikh Sazzad Ali as the new commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), report agencies.
"A major change has come today in the police. Former SB chief Baharul Alam has been given the charge as Inspector General of Police. Sheikh Sazzad Ali has been given the new charge as the DMP commissioner," said youth and sports adviser Asif Mahmud at a press briefing on Wednesday.
The press briefing was held at Foreign Services Academy over the outcomes of the meeting of council of advisers chaired by Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus.
"There is a latest development today. You know we've been facing challenges regarding the law and order from the very beginning and the government has brought the changes in
the police administration to strengthened law and order and ensure public safety," he said.
Dr Baharul Alam will join as 33rd IGP and Sajjat Ali as 38th Commissioner of the DMP. Both are from the sixth batch (84-batch) of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination.
Dr Bahar served in various capacities in the police department at home and abroad and went on retirement in 2020.
Sheikh Sajjat Ali also served in police department in various positions. He was sent to force retirement in September 2016.
