Bangladesh Under-15 Women's Football Team maintained the winning spree in the four-nation Jockey Club Girls International (JCGI) Youth Invitational Football Tournament as they upset the Asian powerhouse Iran by 8-1 goals in their second game at Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground in Hong Kong on Saturday, reports UNB.
Bangladesh made a flying start in the tournament crushing Malaysia by 10-1 goals on Friday and will need one more win against hosts Hong Kong today (Sunday) at the same venue to clinch the league basis tournament title.
In the day's match, Bangladesh dominated the first half by 5-0 goals where midfielder Tohura fired the net thrice in the 13th, 25th and 29th minutes while Anai and Samsunnahar Jr netted one goal each in the 32nd and 45th minutes respectively.
Samsunnahar Jr completed the hat-trick in the 2nd half of the match scoring two goals more in the 63rd and 68th minutes while Anuching added one in the 77th.
Iran managed to find Bangladesh's net in the stopgap time after 90 minutes to reduce the loss margin.
After the 2nd successive win in the tournament, Bangladesh U-15 side head coach Golam Rabbani Choton said in his immediate reaction that he is very pleased with our overall performance of his girls and certainly for the two results.
Tohura Khatun and Shamsunnahar Jr made hat-tricks scoring three goals each while Anai Mogini and Anuching Mogini netted one goal each for Bangladesh.
"We all are looking forward to the next game against Hong Kong," the coach added.
Midfielder Tohura -- the highest scorer for her side scoring two goals against Malaysia and making a hat-trick on the day against Iran - said, "I'm very happy for scoring on a regular basis in the tournament. We all will give our full effort in the next match against Hong Kong and clinch the championship title for my Bangladesh."
Bangladesh captain Maria Manda echoed the coach and Tahura.
