BMDA running without chairman for nine months

RAJSHAHI, June 20: The Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) is running without the Chairman for the last nine months.
It is learnt, after the retirement of the former Chairman Nurul Islam Thandu, Executive Director Ahsan Zakir has also left the office. Abdur Rashid, Superintending Engineer is performing the job of Chairman as well as the Executive Director.
Nurul Islam Thandu has retired on August 16 of this year from the post of Chairman. He had been working in the rank of Secretary under a contractual basis for 5-year tenure.
Ashraful Islam, the Monitoring Officer of BMDA said, Ahsan Zakir, Acting Executive Director has retired on November 2014. Now, Abdur Rashid, the Superintending Engineer is performing as Executive Director. The ministry has been communicating for new appointment but no new order has come yet, he added.
Nurul Islam Thandu, former Chairman of BMDA and an elderly leader of Awami League informed, he has fulfilled his tenure on August 16 of last year. After his retirement, nine months have passed. Now, it is under the consideration of Prime Minister who will be appointed to this position.
