The daily death toll from Covid-19 declined further to a fresh low at 24 while new virus cases also showed a downtrend in Bangladesh on Thursday.
On Wednesday, total fatalities from coronavirus were recorded at 36 across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
However, the number of new cases fell to 1,144 during the last 24 hours until 8:00 am on the day against Wednesday's 1,376.
With the latest daily count, total death toll from coronavirus reached 27,337 since the detection of the first virus case in Bangladesh in March 2020.
A total of 24,820 samples, including antigen-based rapid ones, were tested while 24,868 samples collected across the country during the period in question.
The test positivity rate inched down further to 4.61 per cent on Thursday against the previous day's 4.79 per cent.
However, 1,653 more people recovered from the deadly disease during the last 24-hour reporting time.
The recovery rate showed 97.28 per cent on the day.
On the other hand, the fatality rate also moved up to 1.77 per cent from the previous day's 1.76 per cent.
According to the DGHS data, the total Covid-19 caseload has so far stood at an estimated 1.55 million and around 1.51 million of them recovered in the country.
A total of nearly 9.55 samples have been tested in the country until Thursday.
Meanwhile, an estimated 5.0 million more doses of Sinopharm vaccine arrived in Dhaka from China in the early hours of Thursday, reports UNB news agency.
A regular flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with vaccine doses around 2:00 am, said senior information officer (health) Maidul Islam Prodhan.
Chief health coordinator Dr Abu Jaher received the consignment at the airport, he added.
The vaccine doses are part of the country's commercial purchase from China.
On September 18, Bangladesh received some 5.0-million Sinopharm doses. Besides, 5.4-million doses arrived on September 11.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recently told parliament that the government had made arrangements to get millions of Covid-19 jabs every month.
According to the Sinopharm maker, 20-million shots will be available every month from October and 60 million from December, she said.
On August 16, Bangladesh, China and Incepta Vaccine Ltd signed a memorandum of understanding on the co-production of Sinopharm vaccine in Bangladesh.
