EC asks ROs to preserve CCTV footage of 13th JS polls

The Election Commission (EC) has directed all returning officers to preserve the video footage recorded by CCTV cameras installed at polling centres during the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election, reports BSS.
In this regard, a letter signed by Mohammad Monir Hossain, Deputy Secretary of the EC Secretariat, was issued on Thursday and sent to all returning officers across the country.
According to the letter, the EC said the video footage recorded by CCTV cameras at polling centres -- both on the day prior to voting and on the polling day -- during the 13th national parliamentary election held on February 12 must be preserved at the offices of the respective assistant returning officers for use as evidence if required in the future. The letter also requested to take necessary measures, in line with the commission's decision, to ensure proper preservation of the CCTV footage.
