Magura mustard growers expect a bumper output

MAGURA, Jan 07: The crop lands of rural area in Magura has taken a captivating look as mustard plants have already flowered yellow flowers .
Maguramustard growers are expecting a bumper production this season .Severe cold , incentive and high yielding seeds have made them optimistic of bumper production .
Department of agricultural extension (DAE) Magura sources informed , they brought 13,310 hectares land under mustard cultivation in the district this season . A bumper production is expected which is 18,634 mts . 9200 mustard growers have been provided with incentive . Every farmer has got 20 kg MOP, 10 kg DAP and 5 kg seeds .Ninety-eight per centof the total mustard land is cultivated with high yielding seeds . On the other hand this district is facing severe cold for about one week . Severe cold has come as a boon for bumper mustard production .
LokmanHossen a farmer of village Defulia under Magura sadar upazila said, This year I have brought my 2 bighas of land under mustard cultivation . I am expecting a bumper production which is 12 maunds mustard .
Kader Mollah a farmer of village Kukna under Magurasadarupzilasaid ,"I have got fertiliser and seeds as incentive for mustard cultivation . The seeds I have cultivated is high yielding. On the other hand favourable weather is prevailing for mustard production" .
DAE Magura deputy director Shuknata Kumar Paramanik said, "We have provided mustard growers with incentive and training . Finally chilly cold hasfavouredus to achieve a bumper production of mustard.
