Prof Dr Atiar named chairman of Paediatrics Dept at BMU

Prof Dr Md Atiar Rahman, dean of the Faculty of Paediatrics at Bangladesh Medical University (BMU), has recently been appointed Chairman of the Department of Paediatrics at the university for a three-year term, says a press release.
He is also an Academic Council and Syndicate member of the university and is currently serving as President of the Bangladesh Paediatric Pulmonology Forum (BPPF).
Dr Atiar is working as chief of the Paediatrics Pulmonary Division and previously served as Course Director of the Faculty of Paediatrics.
He attended a number of international seminars in countries including Italy, Germany, Singapore, India and England, where he presented research papers.
He also underwent advanced training abroad, particularly in Paediatric Bronchitis and Paediatric Intensive Care.
He was a student of the K-43 batch of Dhaka Medical College and completed his MBBS degree with distinction.
After qualifying in the BCS (Health) cadre, he started his professional career as a lecturer at Khulna Medical College.
Later, he joined Sir Salimullah Medical College as a registrar. During that period, he earned his FCPS degree from the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS).
In 2005, he joined the then Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.
After the change of government on August 5, 2024, he was promoted to Professor.
