FE REPORT | Thursday, 21 November 2024

Rajuk approved on Monday a plan of Grameen Telecom Trust (GTC) to build a major healthcare project at Uttara in Dhaka.
The project -- 'Samajik Health Science Institute and Research Centre (SHSIRC)' -- will be a 500-bed healthcare facility, according to a statement issued by Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK).
The facility aims to advance healthcare service delivery in Bangladesh. The objective of this project is to provide healthcare and education facilities to those economically challenged at subsidised prices. The project will also serve those who can afford healthcare services at regular prices.
In addition to a 500-bed hospital, the project will feature a medical college and a health technology institute, which will focus on equipping next generation of Bangladeshi healthcare professionals with comprehensive training and skills, contributing to the long-term development of the healthcare sector.
GTC Chief Executive Officer Ashraful Hassan expressed gratitude to RAJUK its support.
"This project, inspired by the vision of Nobel Laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus, will significantly enhance healthcare accessibility across the nation," he said.
RAJUK Chairman Major General Md Siddiqur Rahman Sarker (Retd) said this hospital will be a milestone in the country's healthcare sector.
