Road accidents kill three in Naogaon, Pabna

A total of three persons were killed in road accidents in Naogaon and Pabna districts on Thursday, reports UNB
In Naogaon, two youths were killed in a head-on collision between a bike and a pickup on the Naogaon-Rajshahi highway near Sreerampur in Manda upazila on Thursday morning, police said.
The deceased were identified as van driver Shamim Ahmed, 24, son of Abdus Salam of Shahmukhdum of Rajshahi, and 28-year-old biker Sanarul Islam, son of Tayej Uddin of Sabail village in Narail.
Police said, "The accident occurred around 9am when the van coming from Rajshahi crashed into the bike on the highway near Sreerampur. The van driver and the biker died on the spot".
Shahinur Rahman, officer-in-charge of the Manda police station, said, "The bodies of the deceased were sent to Naogaon Sadar Hospital for post-mortem".
In Pabna, a 54-year-old trader was killed while two others sustained injuries when a truck in which they were returning home overturned at Kayemkhola in Pabna's Chatmohar upazila in the early hours of Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Harez Ali, son of late Babor Ali of North Shalgarhia Sardarpara Mahalla under Pabna Municipal Sadar. The injured have been identified as Anis, 35, and Taizul, 55, of the same area.
Police said, "The accident occurred when the trio was returning to Pabna in the truck after buying saplings from Bogura". However, the driver suddenly lost control of the speeding truck and it overturned on the side of the road in Kayemkhola around 4am.
Harej died on the spot, while the seriously injured two were rushed to Atgharia Upazila Health Complex. They were subsequently shifted to Pabna General Hospital after their condition deteriorated.
Subrata Kumar Ghosh, Superintendent of Bogura Police, said, "The driver and the helper of the truck have been detained in connection with the accident".
