Tk 16b budget for Rangpur city

RANGPUR, July 30: The Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) on Sunday announced annual budget of Tk 16 billion for the fiscal year (FY) 2018-2019 without imposing any new levy for the city dwellers.
Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa unveiled the budget at a function arranged at RCC conference room with over Tk 399.6 million as surplus including Tk 65.7 million from revenue and Tk 333.9 million from development sectors.
The proposed budget includes income of over Tk 526 million from revenue earnings and over Tk 15.47 billion as development assistance from the government, different donor agencies and foreign- assisted projects.
Speaking on the occasion the mayor said that the proposed budget attached special emphasis on infrastructure developments, education, health, removal of water logging, water supply, removal of waste and sanitation, tree plantation and beautification in the city corporation areas.
The RCC mayor also said "It is a development-oriented one aiming at providing better civic amenities to the city dwellers".
The RCC mayor also sought cooperation from city dwellers and journalists to ensure proper implementation of the budget.
The mayor said "we are committed to build the city in a planned way for improving living and livelihood condition of the city dwellers".
RCC councilors, officials and journalists were present on the occasion.
