20 players leading in Sonargaon Chess

Twenty players are sharing the lead in the Sonargaon International FIDE Rating Chess Tournament securing full two points after the second round matches at the Sonargaon Royal Resort on Wednesday, reports UNB.

The leaders are: GM Ziaur Rahman, IM Abu Sufian Shakil, FM Mohammad Fahad Rahman, FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman, FM Mehdi Hasan Parag, FM Saif Uddin Lavlu, CM Subrota Biswas, CM Sohel Chowdhury, CM Manon Reja Neer, Shawket Bin Osman Shawon, Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan, Avik Sarkar, Nazrul Islam Delu, Jamal Uddin, Mohammed Mainuddin, Nasim Hossain Bhuiyan, Mohammad Hasan, Syed Shahjahan Mehdi, Indian Kaustuv Kundu and Indian Suvradeepta Das.

In the days 2nd round matches, GM Zia beat Akib Jawad, Kaustuv beat Mostafa Razibul Hasan, FM Fahad beat Ritabroto Ganguly, IM Shakil beat Arpan Das, FM Parag defeat Mukitul Islam Ripon, CM Subrota beat Ataur Rahman, FM Mahfuz beat Tutul Dhar, CM Sohel beat Asifur Rahman, Mostafa beat Mujibur Rahman, Hasan beat Avzid Rahman, Shawon defeat Shahnaz Mohammad Faruque, FM Lavlu beat Abijit Barua, Avik beat Mohahammad Yousuf, Delu beat Jahidul Islam, Jamal beat Shamsul Kabir Chowdhury, Neer beat Mohammad Khairul Amin, Nasim beat Asaduzzaman Ahad, Mainuddin beat Aritra Ganguly, Suvradeepta beat Ruhul Amin and Shahjahan beat Faisal Hossain and Mohammad Manik drew with FM Mohammed Abdul Malek.

The third round matches were in progress on Wednesday at the same venue. The 4th round matches will begin today (Thursday) morning at the same venue.
