Abahani maintain all-win run in Premier Cricket

Dhaka Abahani Limited maintained their solo lead in the 12-team Walton Dhaka Metropolis Premier Division Cricket League with all-win run beating Legends of Rupganj by five wickets at BKSP ground-3 in Savar on Saturday, reports UNB.

After the day's outcome, the popular Dhanmondi outfit are clearly dominating the league table securing full eight points from straight four matches while Prime Doleshwar SC followed the leaders with six points, also playing four matches.

Favoured by coin, Legends of Rupganj batted first and scored a moderate total of 247 for 8 in stipulated 50 overs with opener Abdul Mazid contributing a polished knock of 89 runs off 114 balls, featuring six fours and five sixes.

Besides, Indian Parvez Rasool (33), Mosharraf Hossain (29), Nazmul Haque Milan (29), Salahuddin Pappu (20) and Avishek Mitra (18) were the other notable scorers for Legends of Rupganj.

National pacer Taskin Ahmed was the most successful among Abahani bowlers grabbing three wickets for 61 runs while Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Sunzamul Islam claimed two wickets each conceding 25 and 27 runs respectively.

In reply, Abahani Limited reached their target making 253 runs for the loss of five wickets in 48 overs, featuring 143 runs in the opening stand by national opener Anamul Haque and Bangladesh's Under-19 captain Saif Hasan.

Saif Hasan hammered 82-ball 78 runs hitting 10 fours and one six to be adjudged man of the match while Anamul Haque scored 89-ball 77 runs, including six fours and two sixes.

Besides, national all-rounder cum Abahani captain Nasir Hossain (34), Nazmul Hossain Shanta (25), Mehidy Hasan Miraz (not out 21) and Mosaddek Hossain (not out 14) were the other main scorers for Abahani.

Mosharraf Hossain picked up two wickets for 41 runs while Ashiquzzaman and Asif Hasan took one wicket each giving away 23 and 49 runs respectively.
