Asia Champions Cup begins tomorrow

The South Asian qualifying round of Dhaka Bank FIBA Asia Champions Cup-2021 begins at the Dhanmondi wooden floor gymnasium in the city tomorrow (Tuesday), reports UNB.

Five South Asian countries-Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and hosts Bangladesh-will compete in the South Asian qualifiers.

The champions and runners-up teams will qualify for the second phase of the meet.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder will inaugurate the meet in the afternoon.

Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Syed Shaheed Reza will be a special guest on the occasion.

President of Bangladesh Basketball Federation (BBF) Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, who is also president of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), disclosed the details of the meet at a press conference at the BOA Dutch-Bangla Auditorium on Sunday.

Vice-president and Head of Communication and Branding Division of Dhaka Bank Limited Khondakar Anwar Ehtesham and BBF General Secretary AK Sarkar, who is also the Secretary General of South Asian Basketball Association, also spoke on the occasion.
