Bangabandhu, Bangamata U-17 Nat'l Football begin today

The second edition of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Under-17 [boys] National Gold Cup Football Tournament and the first edition of the Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Under-17 [girls] National Gold Cup Football Tournament will begin across the country today (Sunday), reports UNB.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell, MP, unveiled the tournament's logo and trophies as the chief guest at a function at the National Sports Council auditorium in the city on Saturday.
"The main objective of the tournaments is to involve the young generation in sports and to keep them free from drug addiction," said the state minister while speaking in the function as chief guest.
Youth and Sports secretary Dr M Zafar Uddin, President of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Kazi Md Salahuddin, Senior Vice President Abdus Salam Murshedy and Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Syed Shahed Reza were also present on the occasion.
This year, some 113,050 boys from 4,828 teams will take part in the Bangabandhu Gold Cup while 11,826 girls from 581 teams in Bangamata Gold Cup.
