The AB Bank Bangladesh Open (Golf) 2018, an Asian Tour approved professional golf tournament of the country, will be held at the Kurmitola Golf Club in the city from May 9 to May 12, reports UNB.

The 65-year-old Kurmitola Golf Club has been a regular venue for Bangladesh to host the Asian Tour and the Asian Development Tour.

AB Bank will enter its first foray into professional golf by supporting the country's National Open.

It is offering a prize money of US$300,000, to give an opportunity to local golfers to follow the footsteps of Bangladesh celebrated golfer Siddikur Rahman, who is a two-time Asian Tour winner.

The logo unveiling ceremony of the tournament will be held on April 28 at 11 am at the Kurmitola Gold Club.

The 4th version of the country's professional golf tournament will be welcomed by many celebrated golfers from Asia, Europe, America and Africa including worthy champions since its inaugural edition in 2015 where Singapore's Mardan Mamat claimed his fifth Asian Tour victory.

Thitiphun Chuayprakong of Thailand earned a sensational first win in 2016.

His countryman Jazz Janewattananond who scripted an inspiring victory last year will make his appearance in the tourney.
