Bangladesh play Bhutan in opener today

Hosts Bangladesh will play Bhutan in the opening South Asian qualifying round match of the Dhaka Bank FIBA Asia Champions Cup-2021 today (Tuesday) at the Dhanmondi wooden floor gymnasium in the city, reports UNB.

The opening match will kick off at 2:30 pm while Nepal will encounter the Maldives in another opening day fixture at 4:30 pm at the same venue.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder will inaugurate the meet in the afternoon.

Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Syed Shaheed Reza will be the special guest on the occasion.

President of Bangladesh Basketball Federation (BBF) Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, who is also president of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), and BBF General Secretary AK Sarkar, who is also the Secretary General of South Asian Basketball Association, will also be present on the occasion.

Five South Asian countries-Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and hosts Bangladesh-will compete in the South Asian qualifiers. The champions and runners-up teams will qualify for the 2nd phase of the meet.
