Bangladesh suffer defeat to Malaysia in opener

Debutants Bangladesh National Hockey team conceded a 0-6 goals defeat to the upper-ranked Malaysia in the opening match of AHF Men's Asian Indoor Hockey 2019 at the Thai city of Chonburion on Monday, reports UNB.

Shafiq Yaacob and Faridzul Mohammad scored two goals each while Shello Silverius and Firdaus Omar netted one goal each for Malaysia.

With the day's win, Malaysia have secured 3 points while Bangladesh yet to open the account.

Bangladesh got an early blow while Shafiq Yaacob scored the first goal for Malaysia from the penalty corner in the 2nd minute (1-0).

In the next match, Bangladesh will face off play holders Iran today (Tuesday) at the same venue. The match will kick off at 3 pm (BdST).
