The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set to organise a new T20 tournament titled Sonar Bangla Pathway T20 Cricket League 2026, reports BSS.
"The initiative is aimed at strengthening Bangladesh's domestic cricket pathway by providing competitive opportunities for players who are currently outside the franchise or club league systems," The BCB said in a press release on Monday.
BCB Vice-president Faruque Ahmed has been named as the Lead for the event. Matches will be hosted across two venues-- Bogura and Rajshahi-- with the league scheduled to begin in the first week of January 2026.
The tournament is expected to feature six to eight teams. Player selection will be conducted by the National Selection Panel.
Players included in the BPL T20 2025-26 auction lists who were not picked by franchises and players who had signed for the eight teams that did not participate in the Dhaka First Division Cricket League will be eligible to play the league.
