Bangladesh A smartly bounced back in the five-match unofficial one-day series beating touring Afghanistan A by seven wickets in the 3rd match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Wednesday, reports UNB.
With the day's well-merited victory, the 2nd string Bangladesh team stayed in the series with 1-2 deficit after suffering two successive defeats against their Afghan rivals in the five-match series.
Bangladesh A suffered a humiliating 10-wicket defeat in the first match before losing the 2nd match by four wickets.
The hosts also lost the two-match four-day unofficial Test series to the second string Afghanistan team 0-1 losing the first match by five wickets in Khulna and settling for a draw in rain-interrupted 2nd match in Chattogram.
The last two matches of the five-match unofficial one-day series are scheduled for July 27 and 29 at the BKSP ground in Savar.
Sent in to bat first in the one-dayer, Afghanistan A were bundled out cheaply for 122 runs in just 32.4 overs against devastating bowling national pacer Abu Jayed Rahi and Mehedi Hasan.
Opener Ibrahim Zadran (25), Sharafuddin Ashraf (17), Darwish Rasooli (16), Karim Janat (15), Fazal Niazai (14) and Usman Ghani (12) were the leading scorers for Afghanistan reaching the double figure.
Right arm fast medium bowler Abu Jayed grabbed four wickets conceding 28 runs in his 5.4 over spell while right arm off-break bowler Mehedi Hasan claimed three wickets for 24 runs. Later, Jayed was adjudged man of the match for the brilliant bowling.
Besides, Nazmul Islam and Abu Hider Rony took one wicket each.
Chasing a small target, Bangladesh A did not face any trouble to score the match-winning 123 runs for the loss of three wickets in just 30.3 overs.
After the dismissal of first three batsmen -- captain Imrul Kayes (23), Mohammad Naim (2) and Zakir Hasan (12) -- for 48 runs in 7 overs, two down Fazle Mahmud pairing with number five Afif Hossain guided the team towards the victory scoring 75 runs in the 4th wicket stand.
Fazle Mahmud contributed team highest unbeaten 57 runs off 79 balls featuring four fours and a six while Afif Hossain scored patient not out 21 runs off 55 balls, apart from captain Imrul Kayes' 28-ball 23 runs with four boundaries.
Fareed Ahmed, Zia-Ur Rehman and Karim Janat captured one wicket each.
