Bangladesh U-16 Football team will face Cambodia U-16 Football team in their first match of the four-team UEFA Assist Under-16 Development Tournament at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city today (Wednesday), reports UNB.

The match will kick off at 7 pm (BdST).

Faroe Islands U-16 Football team will play the Maldives U-16 Football team in the opening match at the same venue at 4 pm today (Wednesday).

In the remaining matches of the league-basis meet, Bangladesh will meet Faroe Islands on October 18 and Maldives on October 20.

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) announced a 20-member squad for the tournament in a pre-tournament press conference at BFF House in Motijheel in the city on Tuesday.

Three players -- defender Hafizur Rahman Tushar, midfielders Asadul Molla and Tauhidul Islam Sifat - have been dropped from the 23-member squad that played in the AFC U-16 Championship 2020 Qualification in Qatar last September.

Addressing a pre-tournament press conference on Tuesday, Bangladesh Head Coach Robert Martin Ryles said, "It's a great opportunity to show development of Bangladesh (football). We are obviously looking forward for the great opportunities and to experience a good competition against the teams from Asia and Europe."

Bangladesh captain Jony Sikder said, "We played well against Qatar, Yemen and Bhutan in the AFC Championship. We will play attacking games and hope, we will do well here."

Among others, Faroe Island Head Coach Aki Johansen, Maldives head coach Mohamed Nizam, Maldives Captain Hassan Azoomu Ali, Cambodia Head Coach Inoue Kazunori and Cambodia Captain Choun Pili were also present on the occasion. Earlier, Bangladesh ended third in the last edition of the UEFA assist football development tournament in 2018 held in Thailand.

The Bangladeshi boys conceded a 10-0 goals defeat to Maldives in their first match, played a 1-1 draw against hosts Thailand in the 2nd match and conceded 0-4 goals defeat to Cyprus in the 3rd and last match.

The 20-member Bangladesh Squad: Md Mehedi Hasan, Rafsun Jamy Mim, Mehdi Hasan Srabon, Al Mirad, Apurbo Mali, Jony Sikder, Mohammad Azizul Hoque Ananto, Md Pias Ahmmed Nova, Md Emon Islam Babu, Sirajul Islam Rana, Sajed Hasan Jummon Nijum, Sayed Nayeem Ahmed, Kazirul Islam Hridoy, Md Rajib Hossain, Md Rabiul Alam, Md Ali Shakib, Saiful Islam Sumon, Siful Islam Saeed, Sabbir Ahamed Moni and Moniul Islam Moni.
