Bangladesh will play Bhutan in the first of the two-match FIFA International Friendly Football Tier-1 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city today (Sunday), reports UNB.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 7pm (BdST).

On Saturday morning, a 26-member Bangladesh preliminary squad practised under Head Coach Jamie Day for the Joint Qualification of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city.

Bangladesh will play Qatar in their home match on October 10 at Bangabandhu National Stadium. In the away match, they will face India on October 15 at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.

As part of their preparation, the players are undergoing a two-week training session, including two friendly matches against Bhutan on September 29 and October 03 at Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city.

The second match between Bangladesh and Bhutan will be held on October 03 at the same venue.

In a pre-match press conference on Saturday at Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) office, Coach Day said the players are ready for Bhutan.

"We're looking forward to tomorrow's match. We want to win those [friendly] matches because they'll give us confidence ahead of matches against Qatar and India," Day said.

Bangladesh Captain Jamal Bhuiyan said they want to win both matches against Bhutan.

Bhutan Coach Pema said they will give their best.

"We had a four-day training session before coming to Dhaka. We've included 10-11 under-23 players in the squad. Bangladesh are a good team. Our players will give their best against them tomorrow," Pema said.

Bhutan Captain Chencho Gyeltshen, who played for Chattogram Abahani Ltd in BPL 2016, said, "Most of our players are new but I believe that we'll play well against Bangladesh. We conceded 0-3 goal defeat to Bangladesh in SAFF 2016 but now I'm very confident about doing well."
